Engineering jobs in the UAE and GCC

Engineering jobs are central to the Gulf's construction, infrastructure, energy and industrial sectors. Contractors, consultants, developers, utilities and manufacturers all recruit engineers across design, site, project and maintenance roles. This page lists live civil, mechanical, electrical, MEP, site and project engineering roles, with UAE and GCC listings shown first. Software engineering has its own page.

Engineering disciplines in demand

Civil and structural engineers work on buildings, roads, bridges, rail and marine works, in both design consultancies and contractors. MEP engineers, covering mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, are needed on nearly every building project and in facilities management.

Mechanical and electrical engineers also work in power, water, oil and gas, and manufacturing, on commissioning, maintenance and reliability. Project engineers coordinate design, procurement and construction interfaces, and site engineers supervise day-to-day works.

Qualifications and registration

Employers usually ask for a recognised engineering degree, and many roles specify years of Gulf or international experience in a particular type of project. Software skills such as AutoCAD, Revit or Primavera are often listed.

Some countries require engineers to register with a professional body: for example, the Saudi Council of Engineers in Saudi Arabia. In the UAE, certain roles need approval from local authorities or society membership. Employers explain what is needed for each role; Voxxhire does not check qualifications.

Tips for engineering job seekers

Tailor your CV to the project types in the listing. Name the kinds of projects you have delivered, their scale in general terms, your role and the stages you were involved in, from design through to handover.

Ask about site location, working hours in summer, transport and rotation. Projects outside the main cities may include accommodation, and summer working-hour rules limit outdoor work at midday in several Gulf countries.

Progressing as an engineer in the Gulf

Engineering careers in the region often move from site and design roles into project management, technical leadership or client-side positions with developers and asset owners. Professional chartership or recognised project management certifications can support that progression, and many employers value them in senior hiring. Large projects bring opportunities to work with international teams and specialist consultants, which builds a strong record quickly. Keep a portfolio of the projects you have worked on and your specific contribution, because it makes later applications much easier.

How applying works on Voxxhire

Voxxhire lists two kinds of roles. Many listings are imported from employers' own public career sites. For those, the Apply button takes you to the employer's site and your application is handled there, under that employer's own process.

Other roles are posted by employers who run their hiring on Voxxhire. For those you apply on Voxxhire, and depending on how the employer has set up the role, you may be invited to a short structured interview with an AI interviewer, in English or Arabic. It produces notes and an advisory summary for the employer's team; people at the employer review your answers and make every hiring decision.

Before you apply, check the location, work model and any eligibility requirements in the listing. Voxxhire does not check visas, professional licences or right-to-work status, so confirm those directly with the employer.

Frequently asked questions

Does this page include software engineering jobs?

No. This page focuses on civil, mechanical, electrical, MEP, site and project engineering. Software roles are listed on the software development page.

Do I need Gulf experience for engineering jobs in the UAE?

It helps, and many listings ask for it, but international experience on comparable projects is often accepted, particularly for specialist roles.

Do engineers need to register to work in Saudi Arabia?

Engineers working in Saudi Arabia generally need to register with the Saudi Council of Engineers. Your employer will guide you through it.

Why does the Apply button sometimes open another website?

Some roles are imported from the employer's own careers site. Applying there sends your details straight to the employer, which handles the application under its own process.

Who decides whether I am shortlisted?

The employer does. Where an employer uses an AI-assisted interview on Voxxhire, the AI's notes and summary are advisory, and people at the employer review them before making any decision.
