University campus — early-careers function

Live results coming soon. This page describes a pilot engagement with the University of Birmingham's Dubai campus on the recruiter-side Voxxhire product. Quotes and outcome numbers below are marked as pending until we have permission to publish them with a named source. We will update this page in place once the first cohort completes.

The context

The University of Birmingham is a UK Russell Group university with a campus in Dubai Knowledge Park. The Dubai campus runs structured graduate and early-career programs that connect students with employer partners across the GCC. The challenge is familiar to anyone who has worked in early-careers: a relatively small team has to give every student a fair and consistent screening experience while employer partners want pre-qualified shortlists quickly.

For roles where hundreds of students apply against a small number of seats, the bottleneck is not whether the team can read CVs. It is whether the team can give every applicant the same calibrated first conversation, in a defensible way, within the placement window.

The University of Birmingham Dubai is piloting Voxxhire to put structure into that first conversation.

Why this is framed as a pilot

We are calling this a pilot — not a finished customer story — because that is what it is.

  • The first full cohort has not yet completed the screening cycle end-to-end.
  • We have not yet captured permissioned, named quotes from the careers team or from students.
  • We have not yet measured the outcomes that matter most: shortlist quality from the perspective of employer partners, and student-reported fairness.

We would rather publish this page now, honestly, than wait six months and publish a polished story that ignores the messy parts of a pilot.

What is being deployed

The pilot is deliberately scoped to one slice of the early-careers funnel:

  1. Structured first-round screening — Every applicant in scope answers the same set of role-relevant questions, recorded as voice, with a consistent scoring rubric.
  2. Role-specific rubrics — Separate rubrics for tech, business, and analyst tracks, configured with the careers team rather than dropped on them.
  3. AI-assisted scorecards reviewed by humans — The careers team reviews structured scorecards, not raw resumes. Every shortlist decision is made by a person on the university's team, not by the system.
  4. Asynchronous interview windows — Students complete interviews on their own schedule, which matters for a student cohort balancing coursework, part-time work, and time zones for family.

What we are watching for

The pilot has three measurable outcomes we agreed on with the careers team at the start. None of them are ready to publish yet:

  • Time-to-shortlist per role, compared to the previous cycle.
  • Employer partner satisfaction with the structured shortlists, captured via a short post-cycle survey.
  • Student-reported fairness and clarity, captured anonymously.

We will publish the time-to-shortlist delta, employer partner satisfaction, and student fairness ratings here after the first full cohort completes — verified and approved before release.

Why this pilot matters to us

Three reasons we wanted to do this engagement and to write it up honestly:

  • UK university brand operating in the GCC. This is the exact intersection Voxxhire is built for: an internationally recognised institution running early-career hiring inside the region where we want to be the default name for structured interviews.
  • Graduate hiring is where structured screening pays back fastest. When the candidate pool is large, time-pressed, and relatively undifferentiated on CV, a structured first conversation is the highest-leverage thing you can add.
  • It tests our compliance posture in practice. A university takes student data protection seriously. Working with the Birmingham Dubai team is forcing us to make our consent flow, retention policies, and human-review controls clear enough to satisfy a university's standards, not just our own.

What is explicitly out of scope for this pilot

To avoid overclaiming, here is what this pilot is not:

  • Voxxhire is not making placement decisions. The careers team and employer partners do.
  • The pilot is not a procurement endorsement of the entire platform by the university. It is a scoped early-careers screening pilot.
  • We are not publishing numbers, percentages, or comparative claims until the cohort completes and the university confirms them.

What we are committing to publish next

When this page is updated:

  • Named quote from the early-careers team, with role.
  • Named quote from at least one employer partner, with role and company.
  • Time-to-shortlist, employer satisfaction, and student fairness numbers, in plain prose if the sample is too small for percentages.
  • A short reflection on what we changed in the product based on what the pilot exposed.

Until then, this page is an early-partner snapshot rather than a finished customer story.

Approved framing

  • AI-assisted structured screening for graduate and early-career programs.
  • Human-reviewed scorecards; the careers team and employer partners make every shortlist decision.
  • Voice-first, asynchronous interview format that respects student schedules.
  • Final hiring decisions remain with employer partners.
